Q |
Do
you use a reground crank? |
A |
No. We use only new cranks that are designed for 383
standard 350 mains and standard rod bearing. |
Q |
Can I have a larger cam? |
A |
Yes. We explain how a larger cam will affect how the
motor will run and act. |
Q |
Will the larger cam cost more money? |
A |
No. As long as it is a flat tappet hydraulic cam, your
cost is the same. |
Q |
Will the 425 HP motor pass emission testing? |
A |
Maybe, but we don't even suggest that it will. We do
offer a motor with less horsepower that will come closer
to current emission ratings. |
Q |
Does the 425 HP motor come with forged pistons? |
A |
No. We use Keith Black hypereutectic pistons but we do
offer forged SRP, Lunati or TRW pistons as an upgrade
option. |
Q |
How do we make a 383 stoker? (because Chevy never did) |
A |
We
use a 3.75 stroke crank, 5.7 long rod and a special
stroker piston. The 3.75 stroke is what lets the 383
make more torque at a lower RPM. |
Q |
Do
I have to run a large torque converter? |
A |
No. If you use our standard cam you do not. If you
choose a larger cam, then you will. We will make sure
your converter matches the cam. This is very important. |
Q |
Will the 425 HP take any N.O.S.? |
A |
Yes. 100 - 125 HP as long as we know when we are file
fitting the rings. If you want a N.O.S. motor we do
build them. Our 495HP 383 on pump gas long block starts
at $6100. |
Q |
Do
you use stock rebuilt rods? |
A |
No. We use only new 5.7 or 6" rods 5140 - 4340 with ARP
bolts. If you stop by the shop we will show you a oil
pan with a large hole in it that a stock rod came out
of. |
Q |
Does the long block come with dampner and flexplate? |
A |
Yes. Our 425 HP motors are externally balanced and must
have a 400 balancer and flexplate. Balancing is done
in-house. |
Q |
Do
you offer a short block version of the 425 HP model? |
A |
Yes. We will need to know what head you are using so we
can be sure your compression ratio will be what you
want. |
Q |
Do
you have the motor all built and ready to pickup? |
A |
No. All of our motors are custom built and 80% are
different based on the amount of options we offer (from
cam options color, oil pan, and other upgrades). |
Q |
Can you use my short block to build the 383? |
A |
No. We do not use any stock cranks, rods or pistons. We
will use your block. We will give $125.00 credit if you
furnish a good block. |
Q |
Do
you offer any type of a financing plan? |
A |
No. We do have some ways to help. We take 50% down with
your order and the balance when the motor is complete.
Or, we can do it in 4 payments of $1000 each but we will
only complete work up to how much money has been
prepaid. |
Q |
Does the price of the motor include freight? |
A |
No. We ship freight collect. We get the best discount
and we pass it on to you. Truck freight cost you from
$210. to $245.We do have a pallet/box charge of $50.00.
Also we ship all motors on metal skids/motofeet. We
charge $45.00 which you can get a credit for when you
send it back to us via UPS. |
Q |
Do
you install motors? |
A |
No. We do not have the facilities here to install
motors. |
Q |
Can you build a 383 stroker from my small journal 327
block? |
A |
No, because of the main bearing size. We can use the 327
large journal block, but most of them are 2 bolt. |
Q |
Do
you Dyno every engine you build? |
A |
No, but we do offer this service on complete "Ready to
Run" motors. The cost for this service ranges from $500
to $800. |
Q |
If
your 425 HP is $4495.00 How much does it cost for 375 or
400 HP? |
A |
$4495.00. The parts cost almost the same, so you do not
save money by installing a smaller cam. We do offer a
budget $3795.00 motor. |
Q |
Does StrokerMotor offer a complete 400 long block? |
A |
Yes and No. We do not offer a stock block 400 because of
its lack of availability. We do offer a Dart or World
Products upgrade so you can build a 400, 420 or a 434.
The block upgrade starts at $1990.00 |
Q |
On
StrokerMotor's aftermarket cranks do I have to balance
them if I'm only going to use it for street use?? |
A |
Yes. Because the manufacturers do not know what pistons
and rod weight you are using, so they leave the crank
heavy. We offer in-house balancing. |
