After two years of watching the Ford Mustang enjoy huge success, General Motors launched the Chevrolet Camaro into the pony car segment. Chevrolet stated that the Camaro was named after the French word for comrade. The 1967 Camaro was based on the upcoming 1968 Chevy Nova platform.

I do think until this day if there wasn't so much tire slip these times would have been vastly improved. I only had to turn this engine 5600 rpm It had 540 ft lbs of torque the torque range was almost flat, dyno test showed it reached peak torque @ 4230 rpm. I sold the car to Charlie McAdoo at last viewing of this vehicle it was still running. It had the same paint, still beautiful 1988 with the same engine. By now Charlie has probably passed on. He was 71 when I sold him this Camaro in 1975. It is Sept 14th 2007, as I set here writing this. The spec that I put for my Camaro were at the wheel using a wheel dyno. Not crank hp rate. Did I mention at the highway speed showing on speedo @ 80 mph in 4th gear. Putting the gas pedal to the floor it would brake traction. I do not know the top speed of this vehicle it only had a 140 mph speedo. It would top out over this with ease the car was very light at speed. Gear Ratio was 2.96 chevy 12 bolt limited slip diff. I was never out run in this vehicle. Picture here click
